Palm, Tengkawang and Cocoa trees are flourishing on the fertile Indonesian Archipelago. The availability of vast tracts of agriculture land, the abundant and relatively low cost labor forces, will place Indonesia as the largest palm oil producer by the early of the Century. Indonesia will also become the world's second largest cocoa producer within next few years.
The chocolate consumption in the developed countries has exceeded 5 kilograms per person per year, whereas the chocolate consumption in the developing countries is less than 0.1 kilograms per person per year. Needless to say, the strong economic growth in Asia, South America, the Pacific and ex Iron Curtain Countries will boost the growth of chocolate consumption in these regions.
Cocoa Butter is the most expensive ingredients in chocolate. Speciality fats are used to replace cocoa butter in the manufacturing of chocolate and cocoa confectionery. The Speciality Fats are cheaper than cocoa butter, yet the quality is as good, and if not better, than in many confectionery applications.
The Speciality Fats Industry is a high technology, down stream, agricultural industry, which produces Cocoa Butter Substitutes, Cocoa Butter Equivalents, Cocoa Butter Extenders and Cocoa Butter Improvers, by utilizing palm oil, palm kernel oil, and tengkawang fat as the raw materials.
